How to Restore and Manage AI Workflow Versions in Tekmatix

August 11, 20263 min read

Experimenting with AI-powered workflow changes just became safer and easier.

Tekmatix Workflow AI Builder now keeps track of every iteration created by the AI Assistant. Each time AI builds or edits your workflow, a version card appears directly in the chat, giving you a clear record of the changes made.

If you decide an earlier version worked better, you can restore it with just one click — without losing the versions created afterwards.

What’s New?

A Version Card for Every AI Iteration

Every time you ask the AI Assistant to build or modify a workflow, Tekmatix automatically creates a version card within the chat.

The card appears exactly where the change was made, making it easy to follow the progression of your workflow as you continue working with AI.

Easily Identify the Current Version

The version card that matches your current workflow is highlighted with a purple border.

As you make additional AI-powered changes, the border moves to the newest active version, so you can quickly see which iteration is currently applied.

Restore Previous Versions in One Click

Changed your mind about an AI edit?

Simply open the three-dot menu on an older version card and select "Restore this version."

Your workflow will immediately return to that iteration.

Move Between Versions Without Losing Your Work

Restoring an older workflow version does not delete the newer ones.

You can move backwards and forwards between AI-generated iterations, compare different approaches and restore another version whenever needed.

This makes experimenting with AI changes much less risky because your previous work remains available.

See When Changes Are Unsaved

If auto-save is turned off for your location, version cards will display an "Unsaved" label until you manually save the workflow.

When auto-save is enabled, the Unsaved label will not appear.

AI Versions Are Synced With Version History

Want to see the bigger picture?

Select "Show in version history" from a version card to open the Version History tab.

Here, AI-generated and manually created versions appear together in one unified timeline.

Version History remains the central source for workflow version numbering, giving you one place to review both AI and manual changes.

How to Restore a Workflow AI Version

Using the new version controls is simple:

  1. Ask the AI Assistant to build or edit your workflow.

  2. A version card will appear in the chat. The current version is identified by a purple border.

  3. Ask the AI Assistant to make another change. A new version card will appear and become the active version.

  4. Open the three-dot menu on any previous card.

  5. Select "Restore this version" to return to that iteration.

  6. Alternatively, select "Show in version history" to review your versions in the complete Version History timeline.

Why This Update Matters

AI makes it much faster to build and modify workflows, but experimentation is far more useful when you know you can easily undo a change.

Previously, an AI edit that removed a trigger, replaced an action or changed an important configuration could mean manually rebuilding parts of your workflow.

With restorable AI iterations, you have much more freedom to experiment.

You can try different workflow structures, test alternative configurations and make bigger AI-assisted changes knowing that previous iterations remain available if you want to go back.

Better still, AI-generated changes and manual workflow versions remain part of the same Version History. Instead of maintaining separate histories for AI and human edits, Tekmatix gives you one unified timeline for managing your workflow versions.

With Workflow AI Builder version restoration, you can experiment with AI more confidently while maintaining greater control over every change made to your workflows.
