How To Set Up Failed Payment Retry Configuration in Tekmatix

Ensure smoother subscription renewals and prevent revenue loss with automated payment retry settings.

What Is Failed Payment Retry Configuration?

Payment failures can disrupt your subscription renewals — but with Tekmatix’s new Failed Payment Retry Configuration, you can now automatically retry failed transactions to ensure uninterrupted billing and better customer experience.

This feature gives you full control over how many times, and how often, failed payments should be retried — minimizing manual follow-ups and lost revenue.

Why It’s Important

Failed payments can happen for many reasons — expired cards, insufficient funds, or temporary gateway issues.
By setting up automated retry attempts, Tekmatix helps you:

  • Recover missed subscription payments automatically.

  • Reduce customer churn caused by failed renewals.

  • Maintain consistent cash flow with minimal intervention.

  • Ensure all subscriptions (new and existing) follow the same retry logic.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Customizable Retry Attempts – Choose up to 3 retries based on your business needs.

  • Flexible Retry Gaps – Set retry intervals of 1, 3, 5, or 7 days between attempts.

  • Default Setup – The system automatically sets 3 retries with 1-day gaps, but you can modify this anytime.

  • Automatic Subscription Handling – If retries fail, choose to keep the subscription as Unpaid or automatically mark it as Cancelled.

  • Applies to All Subscriptions – Settings apply to both new and existing subscriptions.

How To Configure Failed Payment Retries in Tekmatix

Follow these simple steps to activate and customize your failed payment retry settings:

  1. Go to Subscription Settings
Navigate to Payments → Settings → Subscription within your Tekmatix dashboard.

    Subscription Settings

  2. Define the Number of Retries
Select up to 3 retries for failed payments.

  3. Set the Retry Intervals
Choose the gap duration between each retry: 1, 3, 5, or 7 days.

  4. Manage Subscription Status After Final Failure
Enable or disable the option to automatically move a subscription to the Cancelled state if all retries fail.

  5. Save Your Settings
Click Save to apply your configuration. Changes take effect immediately across both new and existing subscriptions.

Example Scenario

Let’s say your business offers a monthly membership subscription.

You configure:

  • 3 retries,

  • 3-day gap between each retry,

  • Automatic cancellation after all retries fail.

Now, if a customer’s payment fails:

  • Tekmatix will retry the payment every 3 days, up to 3 times.

  • If all retries fail, the subscription will automatically move to Cancelled, and the customer will be notified.

This automation ensures you don’t need to manually chase payments, keeping your billing process smooth and efficient.

Supported Payment Providers

This feature currently supports the following gateways:

Pro Tip

You can update retry settings anytime — Tekmatix will automatically apply your changes to both new and active subscriptions, including those already in a retry cycle.
